Memories, Memories€ It was necessary that the voyages become pleasure and approvals, and the holidays with the mode, so that in the middle of the XIX century the €memory€ appears, imposes itself like an obviousness, an institution, an obligation: for its return it was necessary to bring back something to those which one left€
These small memories, these objects manufactured often on the spot with much know-how by qualified craftsmen, became with the years of true works of art which make collections of today besides.
We would like to make you discover certain memories of Switzerland, Far from the school of Brienz and its bears. They are small articles: limp, paper-knife, case in any kind, plate with music, all decorated of small oil-base paints, true miniature representing a landscape of dream or realities, mountains, cascades, lakes, characters in regional costume.
They can be out of metal like one mimi cow bell, out of glass like decoration goblet of girl representing her canton but especially out of wood: lime, walnut tree or sycamore. They are carved in the mass or generally decorated with a plating corrugated hot placed on their allowing support of the details of an extraordinary smoothness. This technique, very particular and economic, is single in cabinet work. It is clean pieces of furniture of Yverdon (Swiss), to create by the Guichard-Warner company of 1835 to 1905. It is this technique which we find on these objects of memories. |
